Join ASC for a Little Sugar Creek Greenway Public Art Bike Tour with ArtWalks CLT. Due to weather, this bike tour has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Grab a bike and explore nature along Charlotte-Mecklenburg's greenway system and parks and see more than a dozen works of public art, from sculptures and artist-designed benches to murals and other placemaking efforts. Participants will need to bring their own bikes.

The bike tour begins at the Little Sugar Creek Greenway trailhead near the intersection of Brandywine and Westfield roads (behind Park Road Shopping Center). Plan to gather at the trailhead around 10:50 a.m. ahead of the tour, which will be led by an experienced group bike leader from the Spoke Easy Bike Shop.

Participants will learn more about ASC, which manages the public art programs for Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte. Participants will bike from Park Road Shopping Center to NoDa on our greenways while stopping to hear from local artists about the creative process along the way. All biking will be on the greenway, a city sidewalk or a dedicated bike lane.

The tour ends at the entrance to Cordelia Park at the intersection of North Davidson Street and Parkwood Avenue. Check out a map of the bike tour route. Participants can return to the starting point along the same route on the greenway or head to lunch at Optimist Hall, which has food stalls, outdoor seating and refreshments.

The event is free and pre-registration is needed. Participants will need to bring their own bikes.
